Dr. Pepper to give back to America for new Guns N' Roses record![]() Axl Rose has been working on the new Guns N' Roses album for the past 17 years (no, we're not exaggerating), and Dr. Pepper can't wait any longer to hear it. The soda company thinks it's created a way for Rose to finally release the thing, according to Billboard. In what might turn out to be the greatest marketing scheme of all time, Dr. Pepper is reportedly prepared to give "everyone in America" a free can of Dr. Pepper if the long-delayed record, Chinese Democracy, hits stores before the end of 2008. There are two Americans who are banned from this deal. One is named Slash and the other Buckethead. (Billboard didn't give a reason why Slash and Buckethead won't be eligable.) Jaxie Alt, marketing director of Dr. Pepper, gave Billboard some further insight into the company's motives behind the promotion: "It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love. So we completely understand and empathize with Axl's quest for perfection — for something more than the average album. We know once it's released, people will refer to it as 'Dr Pepper for the ears' because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds — an instant classic." Is this an innovative way to market Dr. Pepper or is it just cheesy? Discuss in the comments below!

I bet you that Axl will die of old age before that album gets released.
Seriously.
I'm glad I don't live in America. I don't like soda, so my free Dr.Pepper would definitely go to waste.
But I really like GN'R so I hope he follows through.
If it ends up turning out to be a piece of crap, I won't be surprised. It doesn't take 17 years to make an album unless you are unforgivably lazy.
Except not really.
I agree with you. NO ONE I repeat NO ONE has/should take 17 years to make an album. This seriously better be the Holy Grail of Rock N Roll. Unfortunately, given Axl's track record, it's probably nothing short of all the GN'R albums. May I just say that after Appetite For Destruction, it was all over from there.
i can't wait gor GN'R new album (if it ever comes out)
but well i just wanna see what happens when it comes out
We love DP in Britain, y'know! :P
But i'm curious as to why Slash won't get Dr. Pepper but Axl does?
i missed out when they played here last, but sort of glad because apparently Axl refused to go on stage until he'd had a big ol' sunday roast dinner xD genius hehehe
i know! it's not fair if its only an offer in the usa it should be world wide *nods*
[I'd give my can to Slash though, aw.]
