Chad Kroeger blows twice the limit in DUI case

Chad Kroeger, singer of Nickelback and supporter of the mullet, was convicted on Tuesday of a drunk driving incident that took place over two years ago, according to People. Is the curly-haired blond headed for the slammer?

On June 22, 2006, Mr. Kroeger was arrested in British Columbia after being pulled over for driving 100 m.p.h in a residential neighborhood, People reports. The speed demon blew a .14 in the Breathalyzer — that's twice the legal limit. This occurred after Kroeger, who according to police had red and glossy eyes, handed the officer his credit card when asked for his license. Big mistake Mr. Kroeger!

The judge overruled the attorney's request to throw out the Breathalyzer results, which were later sent over as evidence, according to People.

Kroeger is expected to appear in court on May 1 for his sentencing. One-year suspension of his license and a $600 fine are on the table with absolutely no jail time. Looks like we will continue to hear more singles that sound identical to their 2001 hit "How You Remind Me."

Do you think Kroeger should face stronger charges for his actions? Discuss in the comments below!

"handed the officer his credit card when asked for his license"
idiot!
i think he should get what any other drunk driver gets ATLEAST afew months in jail. but i know the whole famous thing will play into this and like you said he'll get a 'fine' that the court, his attorney, and himself know he's good for!

I think he should lose his license for a year. Walking is the new driving.

I blew a .09 while sitting in a PARKED CAR. I had to pay $1000, I've been on unsupervised probation for 4 years and I spent over a day in jail before being seen in court.
So YES - I'm not famous, and that was my 1st offense ever... he should be entitled to the same treatment, unless Canada doesn't think it's dangerous to drive drunk or something.

"Looks like we will continue to hear more singles that sound identical to their 2001 hit 'How You Remind Me'". mega lulz. That is by far the best part of the article. My roommate hates him with a fiery passion; she'll definitely appreciate this!! Thanks for making both of our days.

ahhahahahaha....well,you always hear how nickel back blows*hahah*...
Thing is regardless of celebrity status, you need to responsibly stay within the confines of the law, thats why its called the Law.

Is that worthy of jail time?
Well.....in a world of drug lords, scumbags, postverts, and generally very ugly people,I can pretty well say that jail time is a waste of taxpayer money.

does that mean get off Scott free?
no
You should have to have some kinda of real pain the in ass penalty put into play,so it would detour the person from actually drinking and driving....
like you now have to date over weight woman in thongs for a month*lol*.

anyways.....I can't say this is worthy news, but like their songs,I suppose their just playing"Rock star".

well, i dont think they should go easy on him just cuz hes famous. he should the same treatment as anyone regular person. but it is pretty fuckin stupid that they waited 2 damn years. i mean seriously, did they wait long enough? do they want a few more years?

I mean, if I were in such a shitty band I'd probably drink my sorrows away and then put others' lives in danger too.

He should be treated like any other person who does something this stupid. No special treatment

I firmly believe they should add a few years of community service for that Spiderman song they did.
