Gwen Stacy Drummer Gets Crushed Onstage by Falling Equipment: One for the Road

Metalcore foursome Gwen Stacy are rocking out and taking no prisoners on their current U.S. tour with The Devil Wears Prada. Drummer T.J. Sego just wrote to Buzznet, as part of our new "One for the Road" series, to update us on the tour, while questioning his merits as a good son. Find out what happened when a speaker fell on Sego during a recent show, what happened to his missing luggage and more.

Let me start this blog-diary thing by sharing one of the single most frustrating moments of my life: Yesterday was our last day with Still Remains, Catherine and Secret and Whisper. Brent [Schindler, Gwen Stacy's bassist] and I rode to the show with them, and 124 miles after leaving Atlanta, I realized that my luggage was still in their trailer. Four hours and a full tank of gas wasted, we get to where they stayed for the night, and no one will answer their phone. So we sat in the parking lot for three hours until someone woke up and noticed some absurd amount of missed calls from Brent and I. So I write this from the third bench of the van in my sleeping bag, eight hours into our trip, and only 30 miles away.

Last night we stayed with a 28-year-old girl from a band called Technicolor Aquahearts. She is part of a culture of people that wait in lines at shows. People are judged by their position in lines, and she's always in the front, therefore she is a leader. She's also seen My Chemical Romance 32 times. One by one we all made our way out to the van to sleep in the driveway. Poor Pat [Meadows, Gwen Stacy's guitarist]. He got left inside.

We pick up with Prada today. Can't wait to see those dudes again. And I get a new tour laminate to add to my collection.

The top speaker cabinet of a monitor tower fell on me during our first song.

Tuesday, April 29

Today it occurred to me in an interview I was doing that I've been home three weeks this whole year so far. I haven't called my mom in almost a week. I used to call every day. I need to be a better son.

I put the finishing touches on a third song in the past week or so for the next record. I'm up to 12 songs now. The goal is to write 40, and I've done a quarter of it in four months. Hopefully, by the end of the year, all of mine combined with Pat's will make our goal.

Show tonight in Augusta [Georgia]. Every show we've played on this tour has been sold out. White Chapel is ridiculously intense, Maylene [and the Sons of Disaster] are the most entertaining band I've seen in a very long time, and Prada genuinely impress me. This is probably the coolest tour I've ever been on. Lots of greatness to aspire to.

Catch up with Billy Talent, who are on tour with My Chemical Romance and Drive By, in the first installment of "One for the Road," and hear Drive By's tales from New Orleans in the second installment of the series. While you're at it, read about Beat Union's current stint with Goldfinger in the third installment.

The Gewn Stacy/TDWP/Whitechapel tour is so amazing! I'm still completely blown away from Sunday night. Sorry to hear about all the bad crap that's happened to him during tour, though :(
