XM/Sirius Punk-Rock Stations Taken Off Air; Station Dedicated to One Band Takes Their Place
Wondering where your favorite punk-rock stations on XM and Sirus Satellite Radio have gone? The two have been replaced with a 24/7 station dedicated to just one rock n roll band.

With the recent merger between the two networks, programming cutbacks were inevitable and both punk-rock stations, Fungus 53 and Faction 28, were among the first to go ... and have both become 100% AC/DC stations! Now you can listen to the Australian rockers alllll niiiighhhht loooonggggg (get the joke?)
According to Punk News, the AC/DC station is supposed to go off the air in January, but no replacement has been announced at this time. The site has posted a letter from Fungus 53 DJ Lou Brutus in response to an upset fan who wrote in about the station's demise.
"Thanks so much for taking the time to write with your comments on XM 53 Fungus. We recognize and appreciate the fact that Fungus and punk, ska and hardcore has loyal fans like you, but because we have limited space on our platform for music channels, we're often faced with having to make difficult decisions when it comes to what's available on our channel line-up. Fungus was one of the channels that had a very loyal but also a very limited audience. Some of the music heard on Fungus can be heard on other XM channels including Fred (XM 44) and Ethel (XM 47). Again, we appreciate you being a fan of Fungus and hope you listened to enough other XM channels to stick around as a subscriber," Brutus explained.
How do you feel about punk-rock music being mostly scrapped from satellite radio? Would you be interested in listening to an all-AC/DC station? After all, they do have over fifteen full-length albums!
