March 31, 2007Adventures In Chinatown
The thing I love most about Los Angeles is that it feels like a never-ending vacation. I have lived here for almost 3 years now and I still find new and exciting things to do.
Today Heather, Ashley, Matt, Lauren and I headed tp Chinatown in Downtown, Los Angeles. I have never been there before and wasn't expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised. Chinatown is about 6 blocks long (on both sides on the street) and is filled with restaurants and cute little shops. Everything is sold for a very low price. I got a wallet for $6 and a green umbrella (in my pic) for only $4!! They were selling turtles in different stores for $5 but I passed! Naturally, most of the signs are in Chinese and the atmosphere in general made me actually feel like I wasn't in Los Angeles. After we completed Chinatown, we walked one block over to Olvera Street. Olvera is a tiny street filled with small Mexican restaurants and little shops. We also saw Los Angeles' oldest house and had cream filled churros at the famous Mr. Churro. Two adventures right next to each other. Our next adventure is going to be to Little Tokyo. That's my story. Hope you enjoy the new main pic! Going to see Blades Of Glory --dj rossstar

Marilyn Manson In 3-D
Marilyn Manson is about to get alot closer to you in his new video for the song "When The Heart Guides The Hand", directed by Titanic genius James Cameron.
The video has a 3-D effect that allows you to see the effect without even having to wear those dorky 3-D glasses. Manson's rumored girlfriend, actress Evan Rachel Wood, is supposedly in the video which will feature scantily glad women. According to Ultimate-Guitar, "When The Heart Guides The Hand" is the first single off Manson's upcoming album, "Eat Me, Drink Me" that is due out in June of 2007. When asked about the new record, Manson says "It's better heard than described. On this record I really wanted to sing, and that has to come from a naked, emotional place." ![]() Marilyn Manson - "Wormboy"

Rock N Roll Therapy: We Are The FuryToday's Therapists - We Are The Fury ![]() In our newest installment of Rock N Roll Therapy, Jeremy from We Are The Fury attempts to help you out with your current issues. ![]() you0ducking0duck: lately or more like the past few months i've felt extremely lonely and uncared for. my family just annoys the hell out of me so i cant look to them for company, and when i'm with friends i've just been really quiet a lot of the time and i just hang in back and watch stuff happen and i dont really know what the problem is. i feel like i'm not really all that cared for and that i'm just someone who tags along with my friends instead of being part of the group or something. i have no idea who the hell i am anymore i fee like a completely different person. i'm not even sure if i'm asking for any advice or if there even is any out there.... Jeremy: How old are you? I think most of us go through the phase of finding yourself. When you grow up, you sometimes realize things that you don't expect. For me, when I was in junior high I hung out with a particular group of people. Once I got to high school, I realized I didn't have as much in common with my friends from junior high as I used to. I became somewhat of a loner until I became friends with other people who I felt like I connected with more. It's all part of getting older and figuring yourself out. Most importantly, realize that everything is ok and that this is all natural. As for your family, when you are growing up, you'll sometimes feel that they totally don't understand you. Truth is, they won't always. Just realize that they are looking out for you. For now, just try your best to enjoy growing up. Have fun. Everything will work itself out! March 29, 2007Bono Becomes A KBE
Bono, singer of U2, was knighted today in a Dublin ceremony. However, don't go calling him Sir Bono just yet.
Since Bono isn't a British citizen, he doesn't get to use Sir in his name. Instead, he gets to use the ridiculously long title of Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, according to Celeb Gossip Junkie. I'm assuming everyone will just call him KBE Bono. At the ceremony, Bono responded to the critism of his knighting by saying, "It has been a great year for this award to happen in and it does feel like this country and Great Britain are closer than they have ever been. ![]()

World's Tallest Man Becomes A Husband![]() Look up there! It's the world's tallest man, Bo Xishun, and two feet below him is his wife Xia Shuijan. According to Neatorama, Xishun height is 7 foot 9 inches and he is from Inner Mongolia, while his wife Shuijan is only 5 foot 6 inches. The two tied the knot a few days ago. MSNBC reveals that Xishun sent ads out around the world looking for a woman and 28 year old Shuijan was the one he chose. Besides being the world's tallest man, Xishun is also a hero. In December of 2006, he saved two dolphins by using his long arms to pull plastic out of their stomachs. This makes me wonder so many things. How high are the ceilings in their house? What size shoe is he? How long is their bed? How tall with their children be??

Salute Your Shorts is one of my three favorite Nickelodeon shows of all time. (Hey Dude and Doug are the other two)
Salute Your Shorts took place at Camp Anawanna and featured a cast of funny teenagers going through all different types of problems. Some of the memorable characters included: Sponge, Donkey Lips and Bobby Budnick. The show only made it through 26 episodes between 1991-1992 but season 1 is set to be released on DVD this Fall of 2007. (Make sure to buy it!) Trent Reznor Is Anti-Bush
Nine Inch Nails' singer Trent Reznor tells us that their new CD, "Year Zero", due out April 17th 2007, was inspired in part by the Bush administration, according to Ultimate-Guitar.
Reznor explains, "I really wanted to focus on something that was at the forefront of my consciousness which is, as an American, I'm appalled by the behavior of our government, the direction that it has taken and the direction that it's taken everyone else in the world and its arrogance. I decided to write an essay about where the world might be if we continue down the path that we're on with a neo-con-esque government doing whatever it pleases." Dog Saves Life Of Choking Owner![]() I have read about dogs saving their owners in a large number of situations, but this is the first time I have heard of this one. Gone Hollywood reports that a two-year-old golden retriever, Toby, jumped up and down on his owner's chest because she was joking on a piece of fruit. This seems to be the doggy version of the Heimlich maneuver. Apparently the dog's owner, Debbie Parkhurst, unsuccessfully tried to do the maneuver on herself before Toby took over. The cutest part was that he kept licking her to keep her conscious. “The doctor said I probably wouldnt be here without Toby,” said Parkhurst, a jewelry artist. “I keep looking at him and saying ‘Youre amazing.” Foo Fighters - "My Hero" (Live)

Riding on the success of their cartoon Thundercats, Rankin/Bass created another cartoon called Silverhawks in 1986.
Silverhawks took place in the 29th century and was about a group of humans who helped stopped crime using their metal bodies and hawk wings. The cartoon made it through 65 episodes, a comic book series and toy line. Here is the intro from the show:

What An Awesome Day
Hey Guys!
I am very excited because two incredible movies have both being released today!! The first movie is The Hills Have Eyes Part 2. I saw this film back in January and I am definately going to see it again now that it has been released. The intro scene is one of the grossest I have ever seen and the storyline is unique and the movie will leave you at the edge of your seat the entire time. For those of you who don't know, this movie was written by Wes Craven, who also wrote the original The Hills Have Eyes and also The Hills Have Eyes 2. (Yes, there was a sequel already in 1985, but it was a different storyline and a very bad movie) The second movie is TMNT. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is supposed to take place in between Part 2 and Part 3 (because part 3 was bad and everyone knows it!) I was worried at first about it being CGI and not live action but at this point, I don't care. I am just excited to see the turtles on the big screen once again. (Part 1 came out in 1990, Part 2 is 1991 and Part 3 in 1993) I am going to see this one tonight at 7:30pm so I will let you know how it is, but I am already guessing incredible! --dj rossstar

Motion City Director
Justin Pierre, singer of Motion City Soundtrack, is going behind the camera to direct two videos for the band Limbeck, who's new album is due out on April 10th, 2007, according to Alternative Press.
The videos are both being filmed this weekend in Minneapolis and Pierre is offering YOU the chance to be in them. Pierre says via Myspace message: "This Saturday March 24 & Sunday March 25 I am directing 2 music videos for the band LIMBECK. Back to back, just like Grindhouse. It'll be a LIMBECK SHINDIG!!! HOORAY!!! The thing is... We need BODIES! So if you are a human being (ages 18 & beyond) come to this address on Saturday March 24th: 5612 South Bryant in Minneapolis from 8am to Noon. Bring whatever you'd normally wear if you were hanging out with the Limbeck Band. Also, bring a crazy costume, Halloween style for the grand finale'(more on that later). Tell all your friends to come too. Please bring a photo I.D. as well (it's technical junk not even I understand, but is very important). If you are under 18 you can still participate, you just need to have a parent or legal guardian accompany you (more technical mumbojumbo). For Sunday March 25th we need only 21 & ups with photo I.D. Sorry, NO ACCEPTIONS! (sic) We are shooting in a bar & those are the bar rules. At the moment, I do not have the address for that location, but I will post within the day where and when..." ![]() Limbeck - "Home (Is Where The Van Is)"

Win Money For Your Bad Smell![]() I thought it was hilarious that there are actually text messaging contests to see who is the fastest texter. That is until, I stumbled upon the National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest, thanks to Neatorama. The 32nd NOERS Contest just took place on Tuesday and thirteen-year-old Katharine Tuck was the winner. She brought home $2,500 for her 1 1/2-year-old Nikes. According to China Daily, "The contest, which was founded in 1975 as a sporting good store promotion and is now sponsored by the manufacturer of anti-foot odor products, pits children from around the nation who have won state-level competitions for the generally crudy condition of their footwear." TV: Back in the Day: Heathcliff
While the rest of the world loved that "other" cat Garfield, I preferred the underdog named Heathcliff.
Heathcliff was an orange cat (similiar to Garfield) who's cartoon aired between 1984 and 1987. Heathcliff can best be described as a trouble maker. Part of each episode revolves around Heathcliff trying to annoy a bulldog named Spike. On the other hand, Heathcliff can be very charming when it comes to his girlfriend Sonja, a fellow cat. Here is the very catchy theme song from Heathcliff:

March 21, 2007Less Than Jake To Make Better Than Last
Florida ska-punkers Less Than Jake have already begun writing the follow up to 2006's, "In With The Out Crowd".
Punk News has provided us with a video from singer Chris and horn player Buddy in which they tell us that they are planning to do a lot of touring in the future, amongst other things. The funniest part of the video is when they acknowledge that their last CD was not a fan favorite and that they hope to "try a new record that you're going to like this time." Elisha Cuthbert's Billboard In Capitivity
On May 18th, 2007 a horror movie called Capitivity, starring Elisha Cuthbert (24, The Girl Next Door) will be released.
Promotion for the movie began last week and billboards were starting to be put up, until Lionsgate and the MPAA started getting complaints about the billboard's disturbing images. According to Slash Film, producers claimed that the "wrong" billboard ads went up on accident and they are paying for their removal. Their were 30 billboards for the movie in LA and on 1,400 New York Taxi Cabs. By the way, I saw this movie and it is great (It's kind of like Saw, but better) Here is the original billboard: ![]()

American Idol Brings Out The Freaks
Absolute Punk has provided a hilarious link to a woman's Myspace page who is refusing to eat until Sanjaya Malakar, an American Idol finalist, is voted off the show.
On her page she discusses how big of a fan she is of the show itself and the other contestants. However, in regards to Malakar, she states, "he does NOT belong on American Idol. The judges faltered with their decision to place him in the 24, and American Idol voters have done even worse by keeping him on." She is keeping a blog as well so that you can read about her day to day with her campaign and hunger strike. Want to know more? Check out this video:

![]() In our newest installment of Rock N Roll Therapy, Luis gives you some solid advice while driving to his next show. (Be Careful When Typing and Driving!) ![]() you0ducking0duck: lately or more like the past few months i've felt extremely lonely and uncared for. my family just annoys the hell out of me so i cant look to them for company, and when i'm with friends i've just been really quiet a lot of the time and i just hang in back and watch stuff happen and i dont really know what the problem is. i feel like i'm not really all that cared for and that i'm just someone who tags along with my friends instead of being part of the group or something. i have no idea who the hell i am anymore i fee like a completely different person. i'm not even sure if i'm asking for any advice or if there even is any out there.... Luis: Well, I'm a super loaner type person but I wasn't always this way. It just kind of happens. The trick to not letting it get you down is just knowing exactly what u want out of any particular situation. So if all your friends are having a good time and u arent , don't be afraid to just leave. The time away will make the time together with friends more special. Cute Polar Bear Controversy![]() A cute three-month-old polar bear was sadly rejected and abandoned by his mother. Rather than leave the poor cub to die, the bear, named "Knut", was adopted by a zookeeper at the Berlin Zoo, according to Junkiness. According to Yahoo News, animal activitsts are against the adoption, claimed that humanizing the bear will have a negative impact and is a violation of animal rights. Activist Frank Albrecht goes as far as to say, "In fact, the cub should have been killed." The bear is bottle-fed, cuddled and washed by the zookeeper who adopted him. Why would they possible want to kill Knut!? Javelins - "I Was Rasied As A Polar Bear"

Today in History: Ben Savage Project
Did you know that in 11th grade I was the singer of a punk band?
Yes, it's true. I used to write songs just for fun until one day, back in 1998, my good friend Zack and I were coming home from a show that we failed to get into. We wrote an incredible song called, "Gary" and soon after formed a band with our friends Doug, Frank and Austin called The Ben Savage Project named after my favorite TV Show "Boy Meets World". I wrote about 7 songs, we had 1 band practice, and sure enough on March 20th 1999 we performed live at The Backstage in Long Island, NY for a crowd of about 200. We performed a few originals and even a Billy Joel song (Uptown Girl) and a Blink-182 song (Pathetic). The crowd went crazy for "Gary" and the show went over well, however, we were so punk that we did not want to become too big, so we decided to disband. However, I will always remember that show and what it felt like to be in a band. There is your history lesson! Don't forget that tomorrow From First To Last will be on the show! Maybe I can get them to cover "Gary" --dj rossstar ![]()

Emma Watson Done With Harry Potter?
Emma Watson is a key character in the Harry Potter films. She has appeared in all four Harry Potter movies that have been released thus far, but has refused to sign on for the final two films in the series.
According to Hollywood Backwash, Watson is ready to move on to different roles and does not want to end up being known for just one character. She must be serious as she turned down 3.9 million to do the films. (Put me in a wig and I will do it!) Watson appears to be distant from her Potter co-stars as well. Rubert Grint says that he and Daniel Radcliffe do not keep in touch with her at all off set. Do you think she is becoming a diva? ![]() Harry and the Potters - "The Blood Of A Prince"

TV: Back in the Day: Beetlejuice (The Cartoon)
Almost every good movie in the 1980's was followed by a cartoon. Beetlejuice was no exception.
Launched in 1989, a year after Beetlejuice the movie was released, the animated series, also called Beetlejuice debuted on ABC. The cartoon was loosely based on the movie and in it Lydia and Beetlejuice are friends. She frequently visited him in the Neitherworld and the show also featured a crazy cast of characters that were neighbors of Beetlejuice. The show ran until December 6th 1991 but now you can pretend you are back in time with this video of the show intro.

The Offspring Go Back To Work
It would be a safe bet that almost 75% of the bands you listen to today wouldn't exist if it wasn't for The Offspring. (and probably wouldn't be on radio and TV either)
The highly-influential punk band, who have sold over 32 million albums total since forming in 1984, are still together and are currently working on a new album. A message from Offspring singer Dexter Holland comes to us via Punk News. In the message, we learn that they are in the studio in Maui recording a few more songs for their yet to be named follow up to 2003's "Splinter" Holland tells us that they currently have 10 songs done, but goes on to say that, "I don't want to tell you guys too much because the record is still taking shape." The Offspring always put out great albums and I can't wait for this one! ![]() The Offspring - "Self Esteem"

Girl Travels Via Basketball![]() Neatorama provides us with this amazing story of a young Chinese girl, Qian Hongyan, who lost both her legs in an accident at only three years old. Hongyan's family wasn't wealth enough to provide her with hi-tech equipment to help her walk, so they placed her on a basketball. Hongyan used brushes as low-level crutches. She was successful able to travel to and from home and school via bouncing on the basketball. Five years later, doctors have finally been able to give her prosthetic legs. New Abortion Law Is Extreme![]() This is definately going too far. According to Junkiness, a new proposed South Carolina bill would require women who are considering an abortion to view an ultrasound. Supporters of this bill are convinced that if women see an ultrasound of their unborn child, they will change their minds and go through with the birth. Fox News talks more about the bill. Oran Smith, President of the Palmetto Family Council, says that, "To reduce abortions, women need "as much background as possible when they're making decisions." On the other front, Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America feels that, "The women of South Carolina would rather talk to their doctor about information they need to make private, personal medical decisions. This is not a place for interference by politicians." Does this make you mad or do you agree with the proposed bill.
