July 31, 2007HIM Singer Says Yes To Smoking Bars
I don't smoke and I am happy that it's illegal for people to smoke in bars around me.
Ville Valo, singer of HIM, strongly disagrees with me. Valo tells Kerrang!: "It's such a c**nty idea!. I understand totally if restaurants where you eat would be totally smoke-free. But imagine you can't sit at the pub, smoke a fag and meet new people? What the f**k are you going to do?" What is Valle's solution to this dilemma you ask? "I'll just build my own bar at home. You can smoke whatever you want in my bar!" Would you go to Valle's bar if he actualy built one?

My Chemical Romance Plan UK Trip
My Chemical Romance are not fans of vacationing. They've been touring non-stop since the release of "The Black Parade" in 2006.
The band will be performing on the Projekt Revolution Tour until early September...but the fun doesn't stop there! Gigwise has announced that the band will be performing four shows in the UK this November. Four shows doesn't sound like a lot except for the fact that they are all arenas! Here are the tour dates: Newcastle Metro Radio Arena – November 11 Aberdeen AECC – 12 Sheffield Hallam FM Arena – 13 London, The o2 – 15

DJ Rossstar's Top 10 Songs Under 60 Seconds
A song doesn't have to be 8 minutes long to be considered a masterpiece. Sometimes a shorter song helps to get the message across just as well. Other times it's just fun to hear what a band can create in such a short amount of time.
Here is a list of my Top 10 Songs Under 60 Seconds. As always, this is strictly my opinon and I would love to hear yours in the comments section! DJ Rossstar's Top 10 Songs Under 60 Seconds: 10. Allister - Love Song Super short and then super fast, this song clocks in at 18 seconds! ![]() 9. Reel Big Fish - Another F.U. Song Okay, so I cheated. This song is actually 64 seconds, but who can resist a song that it is a foul-mouthed ode to everything they hate. ![]() 8. Blink-182 - Family Reunion A fan favorite, Blink fit almost every curse word imaginable into this short song. ![]() 7. Rancid- Disgruntled The second song off Rancid's super fast Rancid 2000, this is a fast-paced song that is fun to sing along to, even though I have no clue what he is saying besides the word "disgruntled." 6. The Ataris - The Radio Still Sucks Dissing alternative rock artists like Bush, Oasis and 311, this short song is fast and to the point that in singer Kris Roe's opinion "The radio still sucks." ![]() 5. Offspring - Hand Grenades In under a minute, The Offspring teach you how to make hand grenades from common things around the house. ![]() 4. Less Than Jake - Anchor Less Than Jake spend under 60 seconds singing shoutouts! ![]() 3. Green Day - The Ballad Of Wilhelm Fink A short acoustic song by Billie Joe about late night drinking at the Berkeley Marina. ![]() 2. Suicide Machines - Jah This 5 second song has a slow drum roll and only one word sung. How can a song get any shorter? ![]() 1. Suicide Machines - Punk This is how... Punk clocks in at 4 seconds with a fast drum beat and once again only one word sung! ![]() Related Groups:

TV: Back in the Day: Get A Life
Get A Life was a short-lived comedy starring Chris Elliott (There's Something About Mary).
The show's main character was a 30 year old man named Chris Peterson who still lives at home and is extremely childish. He doesn't have a license so he delivers newspapers for a living via bicycle. A unique staple of the show was that Chris would often die at the end of an episode. Some of his many deaths included: being crushed by a giant boulder, shot by a cop, stabbed to death and even getting his head ripped off. Everything about this show was bizarre and original which is probably why FOX only kept it on air for 35 episodes. (1990-1992) I recommend you check the show out on DVD. Here is the introduction to Get A Life:

Rock N Roll Therapy: New Years DayToday's Therapists - New Years Day![]() In our newest installment of Rock N Roll Therapy, Keith from New Years Day gives advice to Buzznet members that are facing some tough personal issues. ![]() Shotgunmessage: I spend hours and hours writing. The thing is i have everyone around me pushing me to get stuff published in magazines or stories and poetry books but thats not what i want. I write lyrics and i want them to be served as lyrics, but since i cannot play anything instrument to save my life ( i have tried bass, drums, keyboard, and am still trying guitar) being able to join a band to get my lyrics across isnt going to happen. So i have no other way of having them heard or used, the majority of bands want to keep integrity and use their own lyrics, so pushing for other bands to use mine seems unfair. Any suggestions on how to get my lyrics across. I have tried to contact lables but all seem to say the same thing "start a band, and then send us your demo". What can i do to have my work seen? Keith: Some of the most successful people I've met when it comes to writing music were lyricists. Lots of publishing companies will swoop up people who are gifted with words, just like they swoop up songwriters. I'm the opposite; I can write music until the sun comes up, but I majorly suck at writing words, which is where my bandmates (or a friend like yourself) would come in. If I were you, I'd probably try to team up with a pianist or guitarist (if possible) who can write a tune to your lyrics, and send it to publishing companies instead of most labels (unless they're cool indies that would appreciate the artsy side of things). It's publishing companies who supply most of the songs for many major bands and pop/mainstream acts. ![]() Msva93: UGH! I wen't vegetarian about 2 months ago and I love it! I feel helthier, stronger, and like I'm a better person. But I keep finding my self with a peice of chicken in my hand or gaging every time I look at that bocca burger. I don't want to go back to eating meat. Can someone give me some tips or something to stay on my "diet"??? Keith: You feel healthier and stronger when you don't eat meat? Damn. I felt like shit for a month or two when I stopped eating meat. If the problem you're having is resisting the temptation of eating meat, then think about whatever motivation drove you to stop eating it in the first place, and if it was a strong conviction, it should be easy ![]() Iamsam: At work this guy and I were totally on the verge of getting into a relationship. Then on of the crew leaders decided that she liked him and started hanging out with him at work. Well, he started to like her and made it so obvious in front of me. He was basically throwing himself at her. So I just sat back and got a little heartbroken but as the week progressed you can tell that there is something going on. I was fine with it, I guess until she started giving me these looks of death, she hates me now. But they are giving the " We are totally having sex/sexual relations but we don't want to talk about it" face. It makes me ill. What makes me more mad is that I was about to be in a relationship with this guy and she totally ruined it. I still really like the guy, but I do not want sloppy seconds. What should I do? Keith: Why on Earth would you still want to be with someone who acts like that? I swear, girls put up with the most obvious bullshit from guys. If you have ANY self esteem, you'll probably quickly realize that you're more than capable of finding someone who is deserving of your time and effort. I've always been dumbstruck and saddened by girls who think lowly of themselves and put up with the corniest crap from cheeseball dudes. There are still good guys out there. Unfortunately nice guys like us finish last, but honestly, find a badass nice guy. They're not all boring, I promise!! Have a personal issue? Would you like to get some advice from a musician? I am constantly meeting people who love music and would love to manage a band but they have no experience in that field.
Vipbandmanager.com is giving you the chance to fulfill your dream career without any prior training. According to NME, once you register yourself on the free website, you will immediately become a manager and help decide on what musicians should make up a new band. Once the band is created you will vote on different aspects of their career to help them achieve three goals: 1. Achieve 1 million fans 2. Stage a 12-date UK Tour 3. Get a number 1 record This opportunity is limited to 50,000 managers and auditions are being held now for band members. I think this sounds like a great idea. Do you?

July 29, 2007DJ Rossstar's Hollywood Tales
People ALWAYS ask me if I run into celebrities in Los Angeles and the answer is usually no.
However, the past two weeks I have experienced a run in with two different celebrities and I thought I would share the experiences with you. Last Friday night I went to Lucky Strike in Hollywood to bowl with a few people. As I was walking towards the entrance, so was Jamie Foxx from the other side. He and his bodyguard were walking to slowly so I darted in front of them to get into the building, bumping into Jamie while doing so. His bodyguard gave me a look but I made it out alive. Yesterday I was in Macy's paying for something and the cashier told me I look like Joel Madden which is funny because if there was an award for looking LEAST like Joel Madden, I'd probably get it! Finally, last night I went with a few friends to the famous Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood. I was using the bathroom and someone stood next to me. That person accidentally stepped on my foot and said he was sorry. When I looked over to say it was cool I noticed that it was Dave Navarro. Haha. Those are my Hollywood stories for this week! Be sure and check this list I just created of the Top 5 Zombie Movies and let me know your own list! --DJ Rossstar

DJ Rossstar's Top 5 Zombie Movies
I am a horror movie fanatic. I have seen well over 60 horror movies from all different countries.
Zombie movies are a type of horror film that people either love or hate. I love them and have decided to list my Top 5 Zombie Movies. I hope you list yours as well in the comments section! DJ Rossstar's Top 5 Zombie Movies: 5. Tombs Of The Blind Dead Series - (1971 - 1975) This four-part Spanish horror series (dubbed in English) features a different type of zombie then you may be used to...blind ones! Good luck trying to hide because they can smell you. The grainiy look from the film quality itself (this is the 70's) makes these movies appear even creepier. 4. Day Of The Dead - 1985 My favorite in George Romero's "Dead" series, Day Of The Dead is both the eeriest and most suspenseful. The characters in this movie are stuck in a an underground bunker while zombie roam the land above. The bunker seems safe but what happens when the zombies find the way in... ![]() 3. Dawn Of The Dead (Remake) - 2004 The original Dawn Of The Dead (1978) was a good zombie movie but the remake took everything about it and made it a lot better and while adding in some new creative elements. While funny at times, the movie also made you feel for/connect with the main characters. The scene with the large almost-zombie woman is insane!!!! ![]() 2. 28 Weeks Later - 2007 I wasn't a fan of the first movie in this series (28 Days Later) but this film completely blew me awyay. Something about the way it was filmed made me actually feel like I was in the movie which is something that I believe is extremely hard to do. I rarely get scared during horror movies but this one did it for me. ![]() 1. Return Of The Living Dead - 1985 This was the first zombie movie I ever saw (I think I was able 9 years old) and it's still my favorite. ROTD has the perfect mix of horror, gore and comedy. The effects are great and the ending is one of my the most absurd things I have ever witnessed on film to this day. ![]() Related Groups:

DJ Rossstar's Top 5 Cartoons
Watching cartoons as a child is a staple of most children's childhood.
As time goes on you start to pick favorites and years later those cartoons are still able to entertain you as much as they did when you were young. Just for fun I have compile a list of my Top 5 Favorite Cartoons. I would love to hear yours so please be sure and post them in the comments section! DJ Rossstar's Top 5 Favorite Cartoons: 5. Doug - Nickelodeon Doug is a cartoon about a kind 6th grader named Doug Funnie who has a passion for music as well as writing. His best friend is the off-beat and blue-colored Skeeter Valentine and his middle school crush is the orange-skinned Patti Mayonnaise. Doug's daydreams played a large part in the show. ![]() 4. Inspector Gadget - Nickelodeon Inspector Gadget is a clumsy detective who is also a cyborg with different gadgets built in his body that he can use on demand. With the help of his intelligent niece Penny and smart dog Brain, Gadget is able to solve cases and foil the plans of the evil Dr. Claw. ![]() 3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - CBS I can go on forever about how amazing this show is. Giant talking turtles who live in the sewers with their master Splinter (a giant rat) and fight a series of other mutants throughout the course of the show. This cartoon was my life for many years and I had at least 300 of the action figures! ![]() 2. Animaniacs - FOX Animaniacs mixes wackiness with music and education. The show's three main characters, Yakko, Wakko and Dot made everything they did seem fun and the show would always put me in a good mood with it's old-fashioned wit. ![]() 1. Family Guy - FOX Family Guy can be considered an adult cartoon with often crude language and scenarios. However, it is also the funniest show I have ever seen on television and The Griffin Family (Peter, Lois, Meg, Chris and Stewie) each have their own personalities that still manage to make you laugh. I can watch this show over and over and over and never get sick of it. ![]() Related Groups:

July 27, 2007DJ Rossstar's Top 10 Flawless Albums
From time to time, some of your favorite bands have put out songs that you didn't love.
I have decided to make a list of my Top 10 Flawless Albums. These are the albums that I can listen to from start to finish because every single song is equally as amazing as the one before it. Be sure to post your own list in the comment section! DJ Rossstar's Top 10 Flawless Albums: 10. MXPX - The Ever Passing Moment Most MXPX fans call Life In General their best album, however, The Ever Passing Moment is the only MXPX album that I have to listen to straight through every single time. Every song is just too catchy to skip! An essential pop-punk album. ![]() 9. The Ataris - End Is Forever Kris Roe writes some of the most genuine and unique lyrics I have ever heard. Each song on this album sounds different than the one before it. One listen through this album and you will be hooked! ![]() 8. Less Than Jake - Anthem Few bands have been able to create pop-punk and punk-ska songs as incredible as Less Than Jake. For those of you who don't know, Less Than Jake have two singers and both truly showcase their talents with vocals and melodies on this album. ![]() 7. The Network - Money Money 20 20 Since this album was released in 2003 it has been argued that three of the band members are actually Green Day in disguise! Whether it is or isn't, this album found me enjoying nu-wave music for the first time. This album is for fans of both electronic music as well as punk music. ![]() 6. The Matches - Decomposer When I first heard this album it wasn't what I expected. After giving it a few listens I realized just how genius it really was. This is not your average pop-punk/rock record and I quickly learned to appreciate the artistic nature of each song and the album as a whole. In my opinon, this album is very underrated. ![]() 5. Suicide Machines - Destruction By Definition This is the album that got me into punk-ska 11 years ago and I still love listening to it. The successful blend of different music genres on these songs is what makes this record so incredible. ![]() 4. New Found Glory - S/T In my opinon, New Found Glory are one of the best pop-punk bands of all time. I love memorable lyrics, catchy hooks and catchy melodies and this album is their best collection of those types of songs. ![]() 3. Boys Like Girls - S/T From the first time I heard this record I was hooked. Each single song on this album will be stuck in your head after just one listen. This is the ulitmate pop-rock album. ![]() 2. Sum 41 - Chuck This is one of the "heaviest" albums that I love listening to. Chuck showcases how incredibly talented the band members are at their instruments as well as their song writing. ![]() 1. Green Day - American Idiot Green Day is my favorite band and I love every song they have released. What makes American Idiot different than their other albums is that I have to listen to it straight through because the songs flow so well into each other. It wouldn't be possible to listen to it on shuffle as I could with an album like Kerpunk! or Warning. I would feel like I wasn't getting the full experience of the album.

Fall Out Boy Talk New Songs And Sound
Fall Out Boy have some new songs written but don't expect to hear them soon.
Singer Patrick Stump reveals to Billboard: "I've got a bunch of songs written, but I think I'm going to wait a while before we release it, because I'm still really proud of this record and I want to kind of give it some space." Stump also speaks about the evolution of Fall Out Boy's sound and sites Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong as an influence: "He [said he] didn't want to play four-chord punk rock for the rest of his life. If anybody knows anything about punk rock more than Billie Joe from Green Day, I don't know who it is. So I looked at that and their growth, and I think about how honest that is. They're really just true to what they are, and so that's how we are. I think we'll change stylistically, but at the end of the day, that's just something you wear. You're still yourself." Where do you think Fall Out Boy's sound should go next?

Rock N Roll Therapy: Dropout YearToday's Therapists - Dropout Year![]() In our newest installment of Rock N Roll Therapy, Brandon from Dropout Year gives advice to Buzznet members that are facing some personal issues. ![]() Emoguitarist921: I'm very lonely and want a gf but i can't ever seem to get a date and it seems like i never will. i also have this friend Maggie who is really cool and nice and we have a lot in common i really care for her would really like to date her. right now she is in a rocky relationship. her bf said they should take a break and he is away for the summer. she was upset about it but got over it quick. but then he called her and said "i saw this girl and she reminded me of u and how much i love u and this fight and taking a break thing is stupid and when i get back i want to get back together" she seemed to be like o ok and they started to talk again but he stopped calling her and she can't call him so now she is angry at him. i want to ask her out but i'm afraid it might ruin our friendship and also i'm afraid that her and her bf might get back together. wat do u think i should do? Brandon: you should let her take care of this situation with her boyfriends/ex boyfriend before pursuing anything. her feelings and such for this situation might affect what could or could ot happen with you. if and when you try to make a move (and when the time is right, go for it) it should be when she is free and clear of any drama from that situation. the last thing you want to happen is to be a rebound, and ruin you friendship with her in the same action. patience is key. DJ Rossstar's Top 10 Albums of 2007 (So Far!)
Although the year is only half over, I decided to make a list of my Top 10 Albums of 2007 so far.
I am curious to hear your lists as well, so be sure to post them in the comment section! DJ Rosstar's Top 10 Albums of 2007 (So Far): 10. The Used - Lies For The Liars I'm not a fan of screaming but Bert McCracken makes it sound right. The songs on this album are a little more experimental than the past albums from The Used but still manage to capture their sound. Plus, it's easy to know when are listening to The Used because Bert has a voice like no one else. ![]() 9. No One Goes Home - The New Era I'm a sucker for a catchy hook and No One Goes Home's debut album is full of them. The addition of keyboards on the album add to it's originality and the band put on one of the best live shows I've seen in a long time. ![]() 8. Sum 41 - Underclass Hero I recently fell in love with Sum 41. In fact, their last album Chuck is one of my top 20 favorite albums of all time. Going for a softer sound this time around, a lot of the songs on the album remind me of Blink 182's Take Off Your Pants And Jacket and S/T albums which are two albums that I love. ![]() 7. Tegan And Sara - The Con Their last CD So Jealous was my guilty pleasure CD of last year. People are usually surprised to find out how much I enjoy the music of these two twin sisters, especially since it's a bit slower than what I usually listen to and a lot of acoustic guitars are used....but this CD is so catchy and I am no longer afraid to admit that I am a fan! ![]() 6. Reel Big Fish - Monkeys For Nothin' And The Chimps For Free Reel Big Fish are a fun band that make fun music. Where as their last album was a bit dark lyrically, this one has a more positive attitude....and like all of their releases, will have you singing along in no time! 17 tracks of ska/punk/rock/alternative fun! ![]() 5. MXPX - Secret Weapon I have been a fan of MXPX for 11 years now and I have seen them live at least 15 times. Although I enjoy almost all of their collection, Secret Weapon is by far their best album in 7 years. Every song come complete with unique lyrics that MXPX have become known for as well as some of their fastest songs ever that will leave you moshing in your room! ![]() 4. Yellowcard - Paper Walls I first discovered Yellowcard a little bit after One For The Kids was released. That album was amazing. The next album, Ocean Avenue, was amazing...and then came Lights and Sounds. For some reason it didn't stick with me as much but I was curious to hear Paper Walls. I am so glad I did. This CD is in my constant rotation and may turn out to be my favorite Yellowcard release. The violin playing on this album is insane! Every song is good! ![]() 3. Good Charlotte - Good Morning Revival I've always been a fan of a few songs on each of Good Charlotte's albums. Good Morning Revival is the first album by them that I constantly listen to all the way through. They've successfully expanded their sound to include a dance-vibe at times and it has made the songs more enjoyable as opposed to them just repeating their signature sound. It's unfortunate that they have become a "joke-band" to some people because those people are missing out on their best album. ![]() 2. Bayside - The Walking Wounded I am pretty sure that my friend Coby (from the band Say Anything) and I have listened to this CD in the car almost every single day this summer. Anthony Raneri is a lyrical genius and sings with such passion in his voice. Every single song on this album is amazing! It's impossible to skip a track! Trust me and go buy it! ![]() 1. Green Day - Working Class Hero / The Simpsons Theme Song Although I will have to wait until 2008 to hear a new album from my favorite band of all time, I am happy that Green Day released something this year to hold me over until then. First up was a cover of John Lennon's Working Class Hero and I honestly think that Billie Joe's voice sounds more amazing on this song than on anything else Green Day have ever recorded. This year, Green Day also released The Simpsons Theme Song for The Simpsons Movie. Although the song is instrumental and only 1 minutes and 23 seconds, you can tell it's Green Day playing it. The track reminds me of something off of their album Nimrod and even though there are no words, the "Hey! chant" and "dun dun dun dun" chanting in parts of it are close enough!

7 Questions With Boys Like Girls
Bryan Donahue, bassist for Boys Like Girls, took some time out of his busy schedule performing on Warped Tour to answer 7 questions submitted by Buzznet members.
![]() Question 1: Emily(16): I've heard that Warped is somewhat smelly and kind of dirty (which is hot!). What is the grossest thing you have experiences so far on the tour? Bryan: Emily, the grossest thing i have experienced on warped is not taking a shower for several days. i hate lines and theres always a huge one for showers. im smelly, what about it!? Question 2: Kara(13): There are a lot of big bands on warped tour, whats it like meeting them and being able to work with them? Bryan: Kara, its really cool to hang out and talk to all the bands on warped all day. new found glory, the starting line, family force 5 and red jumpsuit apparatus, have taken us in with open arms. and of course its always nice to hang out with some of your best friends all summer, like all time low, cute is what we aim for, valencia, and scenes from a movie. Question 3: Emily(14): Since your new hit single, the great escape, has made the TRL top ten countdown, do you think it has any effect on how you are doing on the warped tour? Are you more nervous that you might disappoint you fans? I LUHVE you!!!! Bryan: Emily, since the great escape has gotten on TRL, we have all be really excited about it... i dont think it changes anything about our performance. we always have and always will try to put on the best show for our fans. Question 4: Catie(15): What are 3 things that are tour musts? Bryan: Catie, three thing anybody needs on warped. meening bands or fans are: sunscreen, water, and comfy shoes. Question 5: Hanah(14): What is your favorite song, either by you or by any other band ? Bryan: Hanah, my favorite song so far on warped tour is definitely earthquake by family force 5. Question 6: Brandy Tristao(21): If you could be Kevin Lyman for a day,w hat would you change or add to warped tour? Question 7: Alice M(19): There has been quite a lot of hype around you guys lately. Being on Warped, having a climbing video on TRL, upcoming fall tour, etc. Quite a bit of people are saying that your ego's are growing out of control. How have you guys managed to stay grounded throughout all of the success you've been gaining? What would you tell all of those haters? Bryan: Alice, even though our album and single are getting more popular, our heads have not grown. i love the fact that all of our hard work and efforts are getting some response, but anyone who says we changed or are changing personally, dont know us. we know us, and our families and friends know us.
