DJ Rossstar - Important message!

Thanks for tuning in to last night's show. We had a ton of new listeners and apparently my dad has his own fan club now!!

I mentioned this last night but I wanted to talk about it again. I would like to take the show and myself as a host to television and radio in the new year. I would also like some more magazine press coverage.

There are people in all of these fields who have been watching the show for quite some time now but they have yet to make an offer because they need to see how desired the show is. This is where you come in. Fan sites, street teams, banners, videos, groups, writing to your favorite magazines, e-mailing your favorite television networks....these are things that only YOU can do to show these people how important the show is to you and the music scene. Treat my show as you do your favorite bands. Talking about them on message boards and such. I hope you are willing to help me out as I will continue to connect you with your favorite bands week after week.

You all rule. Seriously.

Forever The Sickest Kids talk hot tub magic

Kyle of Forever The Sickest Kids shares his opinions on the true way to tell someone you like them, the best way to handle being single and how to stay sane when dealing with your boyfriend's ex. Check out this Rock N Roll Therapy.

Shotgunmessage: It's honestly quite simple, I just have no idea what to do. I really like one of my friends, if i could love somebody it would be her. She knows I'm bisexual, but she is straight and doesn't know I like her. Should I tell her? If so how?

Kyle: Yeh tell her duh. But tell her via picture text message to her phone. The picture must be you in a hot tub or jacuzzi full of bubbles with candles, with the message "I dont know how else to put this babe... but this is a two person tub... and I like you more than just friends." It will work trust me, I do it all the time.

Sarahelsinki: I'm 18, single, and have never had a boyfriend. I've tried really hard to get one, it just never works. The only buys that have ever liked me are the ones that skeeve me out, or they just want sex. I've done everything I can think of to get a boyfriend, dressed girly, wear make up, attempt and make friend with guys, but nothing works. What am I doing wrong? And is there anything I can even do? Or am I just supposed to wait around, cause that's what everyone's always said to me, "Don't worry, it'll happen" or "Don't worry college will be different." Btw I am in college, a small one, and its still the same...=/

Kyle: This is easy. I have a hard time trying to find a girl who wants more than just sex too. But we are in luck because you dont NEED to be in a relationship with someone all the time! I've been single for a while now and it seriously pwns all... I'm sure soon you will run into someone one day soon that is worth holding out for!

Mercedez: I'm with the boy I love and adore so damn much and my boyfriend's ex is killing it for me. She's talking a lot of s**t about me and my best friend when I didn't do s**t to her. Every time she sees my boyfriend alone she goes after him and I hate when they're in the same room but they only talk. I try nont to get mad at him but then again I don't wanna say stay the f**k away from her...even if that's what I really want. I just want to kick her a**! I've even stopped cutting myself for my boyfriend...what do I do?

Kyle: I'm glad the cutting is over. but when it comes to the exes, just be nice to her... you and her obviously have some things in common to want to have dated the same dude! BUT the good thing about is that she is old news for him and you are whats up now. If you see her being flirty and all with your boy toy, just walk up to the situation and say "I just took a survey of all your friends, and they say me and (insert boyfriends name here) make a better couple than you two did!" She will start to cry, thats your cue to pull out the box of kleenex from behind your back and give them to her and you say "here, blow your nose... not my man" :)

Have a personal issue? Would you like to get some advice from a musician?   Post your situation in the Rock N Roll Therapy Group.

Day 2 in San Francisco

Merry Christmas Eve to everyone who celebrates!

I do not and therefore  I will be spending my dinner tonight in Chinatown. Today was my second day in San Francisco and I can not get over how much it reminds me of Manhattan. I had no clue.

Took the 3 hour red bus tour through the city and got to see North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, Twin Peaks, Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge, a wholw bunch of famous buildings and statues and a whole lot more!

It was a lot of fun and easier than driving from place to place.

I am leaving in a few for Haigh-Ashbury and then having dinner in Chinatown. I guess I will probably see a movie after if possible.

Last night I saw Walk Hard in Emeryville. The movie was way funnier than I thought it was going to be. Have a great night and if you don't celebrate come hang in Chinatown!

P.S. I leave tomorrow for Chumash Resort and Casino -- my final stop before returning to LA. I have an amazing New Years Eve planned and I can't way to tell you how it went.

DJ Rossstar is in San Francisco

Hey guys!

After a 6 hour drive (with a pit stop overnight at Tachi Casino and Hotel) I finally made it to San Francisco. I am staying right in the middle of Union Square which reminds me of Manhattan meets Downtown Los Angeles.

I will be here until Tuesday morning and plan to hit up Chinatown, Little Italy, Fisherman's Wharf, Haight St. and some of the other tourist traps. Let me know if there are things I NEED to see while I am here that I may not know about.

I wanted to meet all of you who live here but it would be iossible to see a place and time. I do know that tonight I will be eating at Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe (Mike Dirnt from Green Day's place) so if you are interested in having dinnner in Emeryville -- you will be able to find me there this evening.

I will try to make an schedule tomorrow so everyone knows where I will be going and when....Looking forward to your suggestions. I'm excited to be in one of the meccas of US punk.

Faber Drive invite you into their office

We've all got problems but we don't all have someone who is willing to listen to us. I'd like to introduce you to your new best friend Dr. Krikit from Faber Drive. Check out this Rock N Roll Therapy as he provides advice to Buzznet members going through rough spots in their life -- free of charge!

Thetherapist: We started dating and automatically rumors started flying, because he seems to pick girls who, as ex girlfriends, like getting revenge. One girl starts trying to get him arrested as a sex offender --- the day after his 18th birthday. This is putting a lot of stress on us, especially since our one month was ON that same birthday. His brother Rudi came to town and from that point on Sean [my boyfriend] just wasn't the same. He got smashed or blazed every night, he started hanging out with his ex's and stopped so much as talking to me on the phone. Rudi has majorissues with his fiancé being OCD into his business and always needing to talk to him, which makes Rudi very depressed and causes him to drink...A LOT. Sean used to talk to me all the time so I'm goin to guess that he was terrified that he and I would end up that way. So I am in the process of trying to fix our relationship because of the strain being put on it by these girls and Sean's bad habits, and he IM's me saying that he's fallen out of love with me, we're over. I didn't believe him completely, so he came over, and said it again. But there was something in the way that he looked at me, or rather WOULDN'T look at me, that makes me feel like he didn't mean it...So now I'm not sure if I should hope that he'll come to his senses, or if I should just try to move on.

Dr. Krikit: Well, you know when I was a few years younger, I probably would have told you its worth it to hold on and keep trying and so on, but through my experiences in the past few years touring all over North America and meeting people every day I've learned that there are A LOT of people in this world, so there's got to be someone for everyone. If you're not happy and he's not happy and you guys are having all these constant problems, it probably wasn't meant to be.  I would move on, be single for a while, and find someone who truly makes you happy and who you can make happy as well.  It WILL happen, just be patient and hold on!

Pompasaurus: If a relationship is doomed to failure based on logistics (the people are moving away from each other and do not want a long-term relationship) is it better to cut your losses and break up immediately, or to wait until the last moment?

Dr Krikit: That depends really on the people in the relationship, and I think that its really something they have to discuss between each other.  I was in a similar situation where I was dating a girl from Austalia who was living in Canada for a few months, and we decided that it was good to keep dating til she left, as long as both of us knew from the beginning that that's where it would end.  If the people in the relationship think they're strong enough to be that close and then end it just like that when they separate, then I think its better to wait til the last minute.  Most importantly though they have to sit down and talk about it, because as long as they're on the same page, it will work out for the best in the end no matter what they decide.

Mafiaprincess: Okay so, I have a boyfriend, and he's a really amazing guy, I mean he brightens up my day. Wednesday will be our one month and I'm so happy. Well, I wanna know am I in l-o-v-e??? Cuz, people say I am, but I'm not even sure of what it is, everytime I think of him, I get butterflies in my stomach and I smile a lot, when he kisses me my knees actually get weak and my whole mind empties. I can feel myself blush just when he looks over at me and smiles, I can never get him off of my mind, i even dream of him! I just....I just don't know what to do, I have a feeling he loves me...but I don't know. I'm soo young, I'm only 16, and its only been almost a month? Can it really happen this fast??? plz help me....

Dr. Krikit: Well love is really a difficult word to define, and I think it means something different to everyone who experiences it.  After a month in a relationship, you will definitely be at the point where you feel like you love this guy.  I'm not gonna say you do or you don't, but if you don't love him yet, you are definitely falling in love with him.   It sounds like he's falling in love with you too!  Chemistry between different people happens at different speeds and I think that it can happen very quickly.  I would say cuz you are still young, don't rush it too much, but who am I to talk cuz I've said 'I love you' to a girl after 2 weeks before.  You're young, so just enjoy life and have a good time, and if you're enjoying this thing you guys have going on then maybe you've found your first love!

Pearlcharms: I love rock music but I dont't love going to shows anymore, I'm overweight and I feel like the small skinny girls are always lookin at me like I don't belong, it's such an uncomfortable feeling cause were all there for the same reason, who cares how much I weigh? It would not bother me so much, but when I meet the band they only seem to want to talk to the pretty girls, I'm not a groupie and I dont want to have sex with them, just talk.

Dr. Krikit: Wow that's a toughie...well the rock and roll attitude kind of is like "f*** you I'm gonna do what I want to and I don't care what you think of me."  That being said, you should go to the shows anyways and see the bands you like and have a good time, and not worry about what those skinny bitches think.  As far as the bands go, most bands who care about their fans should want to talk to you.  You're a fan just like everyone else.  Just be careful around the end of the night though cuz yah, you aren't a groupie, but if these guys are the type of band that are into doing groupies, they're probably talking to the skinny chicks so they can find a groupie to take home with them.  I know its easier said than done, but try to ignore the people judging you cuz you're a little bigger while you're still young.  This will help you be comfortable in your own skin for the years to come because many people will judge you at many different points in your life.  And remember, not all guys think skinny is hot!
.
Have a personal issue? Would you like to get some advice from a musician?   Post your situation in the Rock N Roll Therapy Group.

Five songs that changed my life with Jezebeth

Fan Submission

http:/jezebeth.buzznet.com/user/

Siouxsie and the Banshees
Peek-a-Boo

I had heard this from my aunt when I was about 9 years old and pretty much became a elementary school goth. It's really hard to say what Siouxsie song has the most effect on me, but I'm choosing Peek-A-Boo because 1. Peepshow is a solid album. 2. the whole use of backmasking made this song so unusual that it really sticks out to me. And as Morrissey had said: "None of them are as good as Siouxsie and the Banshees at full pelt. That's not dusty nostalgia, that's fact."

The Smiths
Bigmouth Strikes Again

Speaking of Moz, the dude's pretty much the basis for all these new lyricists, but no one has done it as well as Morrissey has. And Bigmouth Strikes Again showed SO MUCH about Morrissey's wit that I fell in love. If he was't, ya know, a total misanthrope I'd confess my love to him.

Concrete Blonde
Tomorrow, Wendy

I was going to go with "Bloodletting", but that'd pretty much get me banned from ever going to a goth club again (hence why I didn't add Bauhaus' Bela ahaha.) I think Johnette Napolitano is truly underrated, because Tomorrow Wendy was a song on Bloodletting that was possibly the perfect exiting song of an album ever. It's sad and beautifully poignant. This was my song for like, my entire Freshman year of high school.

The Smashing Pumpkins
Mayonnaise

If there was any band that I TRULY love and I still hold on to with a fierceness that I can't truly explain. It's the Smashing Pumpkins. Siamese Dream was the first CD I bought (tapes I had, but when I got my new CD player wooo big stuff there, man.) Mayonnaise is such a hopeful song that I can just hear it in my head and smile. It makes things feel all right.

David Bowie
"Life on Mars?

This is a song definitely me and my girlfriend love. We're both like, ridiculous Bowie fans anyway, but Life on Mars? is one of those songs that can make you tear up. I kinda love he still performs it, but has to change the key because he can't even hit the notes anymore. It makes me smile.

What are five song that changed your life? Post your list in this group.

Danger Radio dish on true love and long distance

Growing up isn't easy as Andrew from Danger Radio will tell you. Buzznet members have shared their problems with him about long distance relationships, rumors, falling in love and being judged by your appearance. Find out how Andrew responds. Check out this Rock N Roll Therapy.

Andrew: There will always be obstacles in any relationship that you go into and at that age you will always find that there will always be people trying to spread rumors or getting into your business. If the relationship is strong enough it will definitely withstand all that comes at it. You just kind of have to know that what you have is worthwhile and make sure not to let things that other people do interfere with your relationship. As far as everything involving his brother and the bad habits that have been developing... I definitely wouldnt say to just give up. If you feel like what you have with him is real and you genuinely care about him and he feels the same way about you. You should just really try and sit down with him and talk everything over. Just make sure that
everything the two of you are feeling gets let out and everything will work out the way its supposed to.

Pompasaurus: If a relationship is doomed to failure based on logistics (the people are moving away from each other and do not want a long-term relationship) is it better to cut your losses and break up immediately, or to wait until the last moment?

Andrew: Well if the relationship is absolutely DOOMED but the people in the relationship really care about each other then it will be ridiculously hard on them no matter which way they go. I am actually currently in a long distance relationship and they are A LOT of work, but if you feel like the person you are with is worthwhile then Id say just try and stick it out and just see what happens. You never really know whats going to happen unless you try. Life is full of infinite possibilities.

Andrew: This question I definitely feel could be the hardest for anyone to answer. Especially for someone at the age of 16... I mean I'm definitely not saying that a 16 year old is incapable of loving someone but I feel like you might end up having a lot more relationships after this and only time will really tell. I definitely do believe that there is a chance you could be in love and if thats what you feel and you care immensely for him then yes. Love is a word that is thrown around a lot but the only person that I feel could answer this is the person feeling it.

Andrew: I truly believe that you should always just love who you are no matter what. If you feel like others are looking at you and judging you that just means that they have issues of their own. As far as the band guys go... if they are treating you like that it just means that they are super shallow and you dont need to waste your time trying to get to know people like that. I really hope you know that not all of them are like that at all and you'll eventually find the good ones. I could name a million awesome bands that would love to talk to you just because you seem like an amazing
fan. Dont pay attention to people that make you feel like you are anything less than amazing.

Green Day
Waiting

Yes I want to be something someday, whether it's small or not, I will end up doing something for myself that is for myself as well as for the world. And this song makes me remember that I'm not the queen of the world, but I can still make something of myself.

The Verve
Bitter Sweet Symphony

This will be my funeral song and damn it, everyone there will sit through the whole song. The first time I heard it, I got shivers, and I think I cried. I can't remember why. But it was a song that got me. Why should money be everything, but damn if it's not true...

Silverchair
Ana's Song (Open Fire)

At a point in my life where I was worried about my weight, I had to keep fighting to stop myself from doing something stupid. I am not skinny, nor do I think I ever will be, but knowing that if I wanted to, I could be the shape that I want to be with a little hard work and a little discipline. I do not ever want to have an eating disorder, and I hope that anyone who does will get help and remember that it is not the end of the world to look like you have meat on your bones. It makes you look alive. And this song reminds me of that all the time...

Green Day
Jesus of Suburbia

Damn if I don't play this song all the time whether at home or in my head. I love it. Five songs in one and they all sound so bloody good. I'm a writer, and I love a good story and this 9 minute peice told a pretty good story to me.

The Living End
Prisoner of Society

I was far too young to realise that this song was about teenage oppression really. But I was old enough to know that I hated my parents telling me what to do....or anyone, but I would swallow my pride and do it. To this day, I still really hate being told what to do, and listening to this makes me feel better....plus the song makes me wanna get up and mosh in my room on my own lol.

Dashboard Confessional

Brand New
Jesus Christ

Kept me who I told everyone I was even though I didn't believe it.

Matchbox 20
Damn

Life is full of "Damn"s.

Etta James
At Last

Put the finishing touches on me doing want I wanted to do for once... and it had nothing to do with finding the right person.

Cher
Cryin Over Me

This might not be the right title but this song reminds me that I'm better than I think I am and if someone doesn't want me... screw that.

Back in the day: Eureeka's Castle

I was never a fan of Sesame Street. I found Nickelodeon's Eureeka's Castle much more entertaining to watch.

From 1989-1995 Nick Jr. broadcasted the 30 minute children's show which featured funny sketches from memorable characters like Magellan the giant green dragon and Batly the blue bat in glasses. Other notable characters on the show included the Giant, Quagmire and of course Eureeka!

Black Sabbath

Paranoid

Black Sabbath really opened me up to metal vibes and grooves and this song is incredible from start to finish. One of the best "classics" but still highly relevant.

Rancid
Roots Radicals

One of my favourite bands EVER. Rancid have the amazing ability to mix it up with Lars, Tim and Matty taking the lead on different songs (See: Maxwell Murder and Rejected). This was my 'angst' band growing up in the awkward stage of adolesence. Tim Armstrong is a god. There's no question about it.

Atreyu
At Least I Know I'm A Sinner

You can't go wrong with angry, cock rock metal to pull you out of a funky mood. This song makes me want to punch someone in the face and sometimes thats all I need.

Rolling Stones
Gimme Shelter

One of the best songs ever written./End

Social Distortion
Ball & Chain

The acoustic version of this song is gut-wrenchingly beautiful. "Born to lose and destined to fail..." it's my fucking life motto.

BREAKING NEWS: Buzznet uncovers Green Day side project

In 2003, one year prior to the release of American Idiot, Green Day secretly released an album titled Money Money 2020 under the name The Network. The sound was a mix of punk and new-wave and featured Billie Joe, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool switching off on vocal duties.

Four years after its release, Buzznet's own DJ Rossstar has just uncovered a new Green Day side-project by the name of Foxboro Hot Tubs. The sound takes you back to the '60s yet has that distinct Billie Joe sound in the vocals.

We discovered this news based on a tip from a source close to Green Day. There's a Foxboro Hot Tubs Web site that is currently just a graphic of a moving clock and you can hear three Foxboro Hot Tubs tracks here!

UPDATE (12/8/07): All six songs are now available as free downloads on the Foxboro Hot Tubs Web site and they are all incredible! What do you think about the tracks? Which is your favorite?

Five songs that changed my life with Sobersistaheric

Fan Submission

Kanye West
Stronger

Graduation is the only rap/hip-hop record I've ever bought.

Blondie
Heart of Glass

My dad is, among other things, a huge Blondie fan. I remember listening to this song a TON when I was a kid.

Thursday
For the Workforce, Drowning

An old girlfriend burned me this record, and I remember listening to it on the bus to school and being blown away.

Bright Eyes
Lover I Don't Have to Love

Admittedly a little late to jump on the Bright Eyes bandwagon (circa LIFTED), this is the first BE song I heard on a mix my friend gave me. I went out and bought the record the next day, and fell in love.

Brand New
Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades

When Deja Entendu came out, I heard this song on the radio coming home from the movies. I was sitting in the back of the car, and when it came on, I was sucked into this strange, sublime moment that I'll never forget. When the final scream ended, I wasn't sure what had just happened. But now I understand: my world had just been rocked

Back in the day: 'Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog'

Since 1991 'Sonic the Hedgehog' has remained one of the world's most popular video games characters.

The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was a funny cartoon series that launched in September of 1993. The plot, similiar to the video game, follows Sonic and Tails as they try to stop Dr. Ivo Robotnik from taking over planet Mobius. Can Sonic and Tails stop the evil robots?

The show lasted for 65 episodes plus a Christmas special and you can now pick up volume 1 of the series on DVD in the USA and the entire series in the UK.

Cobra Starship
It's Warmer In The Basement

When I first this song over a year ago, it was like love at first sight. I heard this song before I even ever heard Snakes on a Plane (I don't watch TV much, so I didn't see the video until later...), so I was actually really surprised to find out they did that. Anyway, this song just opened my eyes and really, really got me in to this band, who I'm pretty sure I'll be having a never-ending love affair with.

Britney Spears
...Baby One More Time

Okay, I know it's kind of embarresing but.. this is the first song, and cd, that I played over and over and over again in my stereo. The first song that really got me in to loving music.

TAI
Classifieds

This was one of the first songs I heard that just absoluetly blew my mind. I listened to it over and over, and I just couldn't get enough of William's voice. I can't, to this day, remember how  I stumbled across TAI back in the summer of '05, but I'm honestly really glad I did.

My Chemical Romance
I'm Not Okay

I believe I heard this song for the first time in Grade 6, in the computer lab when I should have been doing work. I was on this music video site, and I heard this, and I just fell in love with it. It was the first song I really loved that wasn't rap, and it got me out of the rather aweful stage of musical taste in my life.

Four Letter Lie
Fireworks

Everytime I hear this song, it sends shivers down my spine. I just can't get over how beautiful it is.

I'm the son of rage and love

After 7 years of searching for it I was finally sent the mp3 of me singing on stage at the Green Day show from 10/6/2000. I can't tell you how excited I am right now.

Instead of having a band come on stage and play Knowledge as they usually do, this show Billie Joe decided to form a band on stage to play Blitzkreig Bop. I was chosen from the crowd to sing it on stage and it was an unreal experience. (Little did I know that 5 years later I would also play Knowledge on stage!)

After listening to the mp3 a few times I decided to put on Green Day's live DVD - Bullet In A Bible and was reminded for the 10000th time why they are my favorite band.

A lot of times people write to me asking to know more about myself. Who is DJ Rossstar? We know the bands you interview -- but what about you?

All you need to do is listen to Green Day's music and you will find the answer.

They've influenced and inspired me more than I could explain. All the things that made me "different" in High School are now the things I appreciate most because of them. It's great to be unique and I hope no one ever makes you feel differently about that.
